This is a beautiful daily driver or garage queen. It has taken years to find the best components of all model year 1800's to make this a unique, practical classic. Engine was professionally rebuilt by Pat Priester (former local Volvo Sports Club President) of Alpine Imports. Including new Clutch, brakes and exhaust. Notice Aluminum radiator, Chrome components, Vintage Air conditioner and a hidden Bluetooth sound system. That is the reason it has racked up 8 first place trophies including best Gran Tourismo, Best foreign Car, Best Import and even Best Vintage (IPD). This car is a rust-free, California original and is a wise investment with no Oregon tax and confidently ready to go and show. But beware, you will have to get used to many strangers complimenting you head-turning Volvo 1800S.

1962 P1800 Jensen

This lovely estate coupe hails from the town of Essex, CT.

A stunning piece of Swedish Iron, it is running and driving. Aside from the driver’s seat needing TLC, you can get behind the wheel immediately. Chassis number is 1836353-006029.

Showing 33,793 miles on the odometer, with great-looking paint, this is not a project car. As mentioned, the driver’s seat needs attention. The owner has researched options for seat restoration and that information will be included with the sale of the car.

Mechanically speaking, the B20 engine with 2.0 L inline-four starts right up and works to its potential. The four-speed manual transmission featuring electric overdrive shifts properly and as expected. This rolling beauty is not only stylish, but practical. The sloped back and finned tail provide plenty of cargo space.

Miscellaneous tinkering to keep your passion alive would include: rear glass pistons need to be replaced, driver’s door opens only from the outside, piece of trim on rear bumper needs to be reattached, and there may be others. There may be other smaller weekend projects, but the guts are there, and the exterior is dazzling.

Test drives are an option on the property, which has a lengthy driveway for your full experience. I am an estate manager, selling this for a family. They are well-versed in the P1800 and are happy to respond to inquiries.

Sale includes: set of 4 original steel wheels, extra trim pieces, options for seat restoration and contact information for a vendor who specializes in the P1800 Volvo and can provide an authentic, reupholstered original seat.

1973 P1800ES in Essex CT

1972 P1800E with automatic transmission and AC……last driven 2013. Pulled into garage for brake issue and transmission leak, never got back to it(kids/successful small business took priority). Time to give it up.

Interior redone professionally, back seats eliminated, very nice and far more useful than ridiculous back seats. Paint job was done, windows tinted, nice custom wheels put on it, points replaced with electronic ignition that works flawlessly. Some rust, front bumper kinked, no battery and for sure bad gas in it now after sitting so long.

Have many extras that need to go with it, including 2 other B20 engines I removed from 144’s i owned before finding this car…one of those engines has a manual tranny still coupled to it, both were running when removed. It will need to be trailered out, so allow for that if you want my p1800.

Loved and drove this car all around the SE for about 10 yrs as my 1st company car. Could not imagine selling it, but too old now to get back to it, so time to pass it on.

Title: Clean and Clear

Up for consideration is a highly complete 1972 Volvo 1800E that runs and drives quite well. Acquired directly from the daughter of the original owner, the provenance is documented by a photograph of its original metal Volvo Owner Identification Card issued on December 22, 1971, to the original purchaser in South Elgin, Illinois (the physical card was retained by the family for sentimental value). The car was well-maintained and always garage-kept, which is reflected in how well it runs despite the cosmetic and structural rust. We are pricing this vehicle accordingly as a running, driving project.

The Mechanicals

Powered by the 2.0L B20 inline-four equipped with factory Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection.

Always starts with ease, runs smoke-free, and drives well on the road. The clutch feels good and engages smoothly.

Features the 4-speed manual gearbox with an electronic overdrive toggle prominently mounted on the woodgrain dash. The transmission and Laycock overdrive unit are fully intact underneath.

The highly original engine bay retains the factory York A/C compressor, brake booster, and the original Volvo data plate.

Factory 4-wheel disc brakes and live rear axle suspension are present and intact.

Exterior & Undercarriage (Transparent Disclosure)

Important Note on Tires: The tires are completely shot and not road-worthy due to delaminating. They will need to be replaced before the car can be safely driven.

The body is crusty but complete. All difficult-to-source side trim, glass, brightwork, lenses, and original steel wheels with trim rings are present.

The vehicle received an older respray in its factory Gold Metallic. The paint shows age, bubbling, and patina throughout.

The underbody exhibits significant corrosion and will require substantial metalwork. There is heavy rust and prominent perforation completely through the floor pans and inner rocker panel sections.

The exterior body requires rust repair with visible perforation along the lower outer rocker panels, door bottoms, and lower quarter panels. There is a visible dent on the front driver-side fender.

The exhaust piping and muffler are heavily rusted and will likely require replacement.

Interior & Extras

The original tan leather seats are present but show age-related wear, including a tear on the passenger seat lower cushion.

The classic woodgrain dash holds the original Smiths gauges.

Retains the factory under-dash Volvo air conditioning unit, original 4-speed shift knob, and classic 3-spoke steering wheel.

The trunk includes a spare tire with a black vinyl cover, the factory scissor jack, and original tool pouches.

The sale includes a clean title, a Chilton repair manual, and assorted boxed and binned spare parts.
